These are some of the backgrounds created for mini-episode 1. We worked with digital painting mainly, although the sky's pattern was created using watercolour stains on paper.
Patterns are very important for the style of Miniambra. The tree's patterns were based in Latin American knitting and Colombian "mochilas". The patterns on the bridge are inspired in crochet knitting, a tradition amongst women in most families.
If you wish to see more about the making process of these backgrounds, visit our concept art section :) It took us about three months to come out with a consistent style, and although it was challenging, we learnt a lot and enjoyed every minute!
Miniambra's egg. Why is it so special? What do you think this pattern on its surface means?
One of the inhabitants of the river.
Our fish needed to be made out of many parts, so we were able to move them as puppets in After Effects.
What is it that makes these mushrooms special? Why do they beat as living hearts? Are they breathing?
This is one of the totems, guardian of the river that separates two worlds. The swinging bridge is actually it's tongue!
